    stop cells from growing (97)

    stop cells from growing
if you insert a table cell into a word document, how can you restrict that cell from growing or accepting an ENTER character?

You can limit a table cell to a specific size.

I haven't had access to Word 97 in more than a year, so forgive me if I don't remember the exact syntax or menu options.

In Table Menu, navigate to where the the row properties live, and select "specify height" and in the drop down Row Height is box choose "Exactly" rather than "at least."

This won't refuse to accept input in the cell, but any text that exceeds the row height size just disappears off the bottom margin.
