Insert a file into another in Word 2010

    Looks simple,.but it ain't working.

I open the file I want to insert INTO, and press "Insert/Object/Create from file" then go to the file I want to import and select it, then press OK.

But it's only inserting the first page of a multi-0page document.

How do I get the whole thing to come in?

    Regards,

    Hi Chuck,

You should use the 'Text from File' option.

Paul, that gets all the text there, but the formatting went to hell. How would I do it and keep the formatting? Isn't there some type of "merge" function so that I could say "OK, starting here, insert Document X, retaining all of it's formatting."? This is assuming that both documents are Word 2010.

That suggests the Style definitions in the two documents differ. You could just open the second document & use copy & paste - with the 'retain source formatting' option checked.
