I use Panda USB Vaccine on my flash drives and I recommend that flash drives be inoculated using this tool (see http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeuse...ds/usbvaccine/)

However, yesterday it failed repeatedly to inoculate a flash drive. I don't have that flash drive with me, so I can't investigate. For example, how was it formatted?

As I understand it, Panda USB Vaccine works by creating a folder (yes, a folder) named autorun.inf, then assigning it the hidden, read-only, and system attributes.

There is some information on the problem of USB drive-borned infections at http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/tips/ST08-001.html

And is a list of similar products (no test reports) at http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/tools-to-protect-computer-from-infected-usb-drives/

Anyone have experiences or comments on the Panda USB Vaccine, or similar products?

Thanks much -- Bob
