    Shortcut Creation

On my friend's laptop, which has XP Home with SP3, if I right click a program's .exe file and choose send to desktop, create shortcut, nothing happens. The same thing happens when trying to create desktop shortcuts for any file. If anyone can tell me how to sort this out I would be grateful.

    Thanks and regards,Roy

Have you tried to right click the file, choose copy, then go to the desktop, right click and choose paste shortcut?

Could all desktop icons be hidden? Check right-click on desktop then Arrange icons by, Show desktop icons.

Bruce, thanks a lot. (I kicked myself for not realising the solution).
