Upgrading Win 8 to 8.1 with classic shell installed?

I want to upgrade my win8 to win 8.1. I have the classic shell installed on the win8 and was wondering whether I would have to uninstall the classic shell before attempting to upgrade to win 8.1. Has anyone else had any experience with this - just want this to go smoothly so looking for advice before starting the upgrade. Would prefer to keep the shell installed if possible but with Microsoft you never know if this will cause some sort of problem of hang up. Thanks for your advise and assistance in advance.

    Omnivore77, Welcome to the Lounge.

You do not have to do anything to perform the upgrade. Once you do upgrade to Win 8.1, you will have to download and install the latest version of Classic Shell, which then works fine in Win 8.1. That is what we had to do to my wife's PC.

I am unsure if you install the latest version of Classic Shell before upgrading Win 8 if it is carried forward, but either way it is a simple process to download and install Classic Shell after the Win 8.1 upgrade.
