    Writing registry security descriptors (VBA / O97 / W2K)

My Application features some user definable options. As these values shall be the same for all users, I decided to store them in the HKLMSoftware key. But with W2K I experienced that normal users do not have write access to this key. I know how to manually set the appropriate security attributes, but I would like the application to do it by itself when run with admin rights.

I Started diggin' in MSDN about security descriptors and API calls, but this seems to be quite intricate. Maybe someone can help me out with some sample code or a link to a good description of how to do this?

Why not use HKLMCurrent User instead? They'll have to be set for every user, but that's no big deal.
