    HP Pavallion DV7 BIOS whitelist

Just purchased a new WiFi card for my HP Pavilion DV7 8020us entertainment laptop and received an error message that the card was wrong, wasn't in the "whitelist." Never heard of a white list or how one removes it from the Bios. HP is not updating the Bios for this laptop and it is long time out of warranty. There are several online references to bios that have the list removed but I am concerned about bricking my laptop. Anyone have some ideas on how I should proceed toward removing the white list and getting my new WiFi card installed? By the way the card is an Intel Network 7260 HMWG WiFi Wireless-AC 7260 H/T Dual Band 2x2 AC+Bluetooth HMC and I am running Win 8.1.

HP tech support seem to be very good with advice even though the model may no longer be supported and may advise you on a card that would suit your purpose - I would give them a try

Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
    Latest Build:
    ASUS X99 Deluxe, Core i7-5960X, Corsair Hydro H100i, Plextor M6e 256GB M.2 SSD, Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB DDR4@2666, W8.1 64 bit,
EVGA GTX980, Seasonic PLATINUM-1000W PSU, MountainMods U2-UFO Case, and 7 other internal drives.
