Post Windows Defender - problem turning on.

WDefender.jpgWhen I try to turn Windows Defender on (PC running W8.1) I get this pop up:
Is it because I am also running AVG & Malwarebytes Anti Malware? If so do I turn them off and just rely upon Windows Defender?
Can I run them all together? If so, how do I get Windows Defender to turn on - I have tried the normal methods?
    Any suggestions welcome.

Windows Defender [Win8] automatically gets turned off and kept turned off if W8 finds any other antivirus/antimalware software running [or even installed]. Many 3rd party security programs even turn off and keep turned off WD within Windows 7.

Windows Defender is potentially less effective than a 3rd party AV and the two may conflict - try to scan the same file at the same time. Only having one running is good practice.

Thanks, I thought so. I think I will keep AVG and Malwarebytes going, they seem to work okay. I also run ReImage from time to time, have been doing so for a year or so; it also seems to be fine.
I'll leave WD for the time being.

I believe Malwarebytes is designed to work with other AV programs while WD is not.

Yes that's what I have found. Thanks for your reply.
