Word 2010 Locating Macro Files on Quick Launch Bar Buttons

Good afternoon, I hope someone can help us this issue that plague us every time we replace a PC in one department that uses many macro buttons on the quick launch bar. We copy all files that we think are necessary from the old PC like files in app data, etc. including the The quick launch buttons appear, but they are not linked to the macros.

The only way I have been able to fix this is to rerun the button creation macro, in essence redo the macro. Is there any way that we can make sure the macros are linked? Maybe a better question is where are the macros located. I thought they were in, but that is copied as is the quick launch bar, but no links work. You see the buttons on the quick launch bar, but they do nothing.

Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks much, Judy Crawford

Macros can be located in a wide range of files so your question is difficult to answer without seeing your setup. QAT customisations can also be stored in a variety of locations and the location matters if you are planning on transferring these customisations to other machines.

Good practice would be to pay close attention to the template where you place your macros and make sure that the QAT customisations are also stored in the same template. Then you have a reasonable chance of transferring that file to another machine and having it work.

Do some reading on templates and come back to ask about any of the finer details you don't understand.

I join Andrew in urging you to store QAT modifications for macros in the same template that contains the macros.
You should not need a macro to add a button to the QAT.
