Windows Build 14901-Windows 10 Upgrade folder

After installing Build 14901 I noticed a folder named Windows 10 Upgrade had been added to drive C. What is its purpose and can it be safely deleted?

If yes, you can safely delete it.
It comes from Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant app. You got it when you installed the Anniversary Update.

Go to Programs and Features > right click at Windows Upgrade Assistant > click Delete.

Both the program and the file found in C drive will be gone.
