    Default Email Client change question

I use gmail, mostly. On occasion I need to send a document or PDF via email. Being too lazy to send via Gmail and attach doc I use the file, send, email command in the app the document is in. This opens Thunderbird with the doc attached. No problem. I want to change to Win10 Mail app instead of Thunderbird. I went to Win settings, system, default apps and used Mail for default email app. Didn't work, still opens Thunderbird. What am I missing?

A couple of things to try. Open Internet Options, Programs tab. Check the setting for email; then, check that Thunderbird itself is not checking that it's the default; you'll find it in Options, Advanced.

Also, check if there's a setting in the application you're sending it from.
