    About two weeks ago, I hit send after editing an email. I got the repair dialog which you get when you do a manual repair. (Been there, done that several times.) It ground on for several minutes. When it was finished, Outlook closed. This time, it seems to have solved the problem. It also saved the message I was working on at the time.

    No issues since then, despite deliberately trying to provoke a crash.

    I am going to declare this resolved. After an addition month, still no crashes. Just one of those Microsoft things. My thanks for all those who offered suggestions!
