    Ok got it !
    It was the TV 'wifi connection' that was confusing me (I know I'm easily confused ). The connection was to the BluRay player. Just ordered a SATA BluRay last night.

    BTW the 5GHz bands have better reported thruput but the 2,4 have better range.

    I had a lot of connection issues with the 5Ghz band until I turned off automatic channel selection in favor of a specific channel. YMMV
