Patch Tuesday: No Issues Being Tracked; W7/KB4034664 Issue in VBE

    Hello,
Not sure where to put this so here it is. Applied Windows 7 Update rollup (KB4034664) and after found that the toolbar and menu icons in the VBE were missing or would vanish when you hover over them. Initially thought it was the Office 2013 Click-To-Run, and rolled that back. But no change. So I removed KB4034664 and voila, all back to normal. Don't know which individual update it was, but I read somewhere that this rollup included some old updates too.

Hi Willie, I had a quick look round and saw a very similar report in one of the comments on Borncity.com, pasted into an online translator, it seems to be the same issue.

The main articles on GŁnter Born's site are duplicated in English and it looks like he's just posted an initial piece on the issues caused by this KB: http://borncity.com/win/2017/08/12/w...on-2nd-screen/

Susan flagged an issue with KB4011086. Yesterday i had an email from Microsoft withdrawing this patch and replacing it with KB4011110. The instructions said uninstall 4011086 and then install 4011110.
I ran the uninstall which said it worked. When I installed 4011110 it claimed the patch was already installed. Programmes and Features, however, show 4011086 as still being installed and an attempt to re-do the uninstall failed with the message "Error applying transforms. Verify transform paths are correct". it looks like the uninstall did not complete properly.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to proceed?

How/Why did you get an email from MS is my 1st question. It sounds like a scam to me.

Lumpy95 - It's kosher email - a regular notification service that Microsoft has been running for many years for the upcoming patches.

I was unfamiliar with that KB so I looked it up and it's for Outlook 2007. As per the email you evidently received, the MS site gives the instructions you refer to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ptember12-2017
Did you reboot after uninstalling KB 4011086?
EDIT: Woody has an article about it here and say's that the uninstall procedure on the MS article is wrong and has a link to the correct procedure:
    https://www.computerworld.com/articl...-replaced.html

Outlook 2007 — If you haven’t yet installed the September security patch, KB 4011086, wait. It’s too early to tell if the new security patch, KB 4011110, has bugs of its own. If you did install the original security patch, KB 4011086, and you aren’t encountering language change problems, stay put.
But if you installed the original security patch and you’re having problems with Swedish menus showing up in your Slovenian version, you need to manually uninstall KB 4011086, then install KB 4011110. The instructions in the KB article for uninstalling KB 4011086 are wrong. See a corrected version of the steps in @PKCano’s post on AskWoody.
If you apply either the Tower of Babel version KB 4011086 or this new, corrected language version KB 4011110, scripts won’t work in your custom forms, but at least now we know what’s happening. Realize that security patches for Office 2007 will stop next month.
Remember when patching Outlook 2007 was easy?

    Reboot - yes I did.

And I also spotted the deliberate error in MS's instructions and uninstalled the correct patch.

So you followed @PKCano’s post from the link at Woodys site and it still didn't work? If so, I don't have a clue what's going on. I'm not sure MS does either.
