install all Drivers after fresh install of OS on, PowerEdge M620

    Hello,

I had a few M620's that required a new OS install. After the OS was installed it needed new device drivers. See attached picture.

What is the recommended method to quickly install device drivers? The Dell download page for my dell service tag M620, had drivers and downloads which made my head spin.
I had no idea what was required.

Comparing the Dell as sold System configuration page with the Optimize your system with drivers and updates page was not fun. See attached pictures.

I'm confused and not sure the best way to do this.

Do I download every single driver from Dell and install the driver one at a time?
Or, can I place all the drivers in a folder and reboot; would the server notice new items?
Or maybe I can place all the drivers in, C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ and reboot?
Or, do the drivers need to go in a different folder? Maybe a newly created folder such as, C:\Windows\System32\drivers\DellDrivers?

Maybe put the drivers in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\DellDrivers and go into Device Manager and click Scan for Hardware Changes?

I posted this a few days ago at, http://en.community.dell.com/techcen...457/t/20018867, but no response.

    Thank you.

Looks like you need all drivers so I suggest you start with base drivers and ethernet, then see what needs updating after that.
Alternatively, use the DELL EMC Server Update Utility (9GB download) and it will do it all for you via a nice GUI.

    Manual Installation
    Drivers to use initially.
    Dell OS Driver Pack

    1. Create a C:\Temp directory.
    2. Download the "Update Package for Windows" drivers.
    3. Copy the driver files to C:\Temp.
    4. Run each installer as required.

    DELL EMC Server Update Utility
    1. Download the ISO image.
    2. Copy to C:\Temp.
    3. Use 7zip to unpack the ISO to a folder in C:\Temp.
    4. Run suu -g to launch the GUI interface.

    cheers, Paul
