No option for Encyption or Digital Sig. (Outlook 2K SP1)

Using Internet Mail Only. When I click new mail and then Options, the boxes to encypt or digitally sign is greyed out? I have imported someone's Verisign Digital ID into this contact but just no way to check the boxes for encryption/digitally sign. Sending in any format will still get greyed out boxes. Outlook Express 6 has no problems with encryption. Other person's ID in Internet Explorer 6 also. Do I have to change to Corporate or Workgroup to use this feature? Do I need a personal Digital ID first to use this feature? Using Win XP pro and Earthlink dial-up.

    Thank you.

I think you need a Digital ID, because the two keys are combined when encrypting messages. VeriSign offers a 60-day trial personal ID, after which it costs $15/year. VeriSign owns a South African company named Thawte that offers free personal IDs.
