I would be most grateful if somebody could confirm or disprove my observation below:

In short:
applying the Excel Macro Vulnerabilty Patch breaks the VBA method AutoFormat in Excel. Instead of applying the selected "Theme", it destroys all formatting information in the selection.

Omitting the Format parameter will not select the default Classic1 as the documentation suggests, instead it will select Simple. Anything else will behave as above: destroying all format information.

This just cost me two full days of debugging. I proved my conclusion by uninstalling MS Office (9.0.3821 SR-1 under NT5.00.2195 SP2), installing it again, testing VBA AutoFormat: it worked. Installing the patch mentioned above: it ceased to work.

Now: how do I uninstall the patch without uninstalling MS Office? Or is there another work-around to achieve AutoFormat with a format other than Simple?

Can anybody confirm this? The simplest way would be this:
 1.
Create a small table, say 3 by 3, with some formatting somewhere

Select the nine cells

Turn Macro Recorder on

Apply Autoformat / Classic1 to that table

Stop Macro Recorder

Run the previously recorded macro
Thanks in advance.
