    Insert Column (Excel 2000)

I have a spreadsheet with 7 sheets. If I go to sheet 1 and select the column header D, R/C and select insert, a column is inserted in my sheet. It works on 6 of the 7 sheets I have in my workbook. On sheet 6 I do the same thing and it doesn't work. I select the column header D, R/C and select insert - Program Error dialog box opens and says (Excel exe. has generated errors and will be closed by windows. An error los is being created.) It boots me out of excel and back to my desktop?? HELP!!

    Re: Insert Column (Excel 2000)

That is an indication that the workbook has become corrupted. Try the following to see if it solves the problem:

1- Open the workbook and select SaveAs from the file menu.

2- In the "Save file as type" drop down list select "Web page" .HTML as the type.

3- Select a directory and save the file.

    4- Close Excel.

5- Start Excel and use File Open to find the .HTML file and open it.

6- Use File SaveAs to save the file as a .xls workbook.

See if that solved the problem. This procedure may cause some formatting in the workbook to be lost and you will have to restore that manually.
