    locking cells (97 & newer)

One of my users has created a hang tag (price tag) in Excel. What I would like to do is lock the editing on some of the cells so they cannot be edited (mostly by mistake--typing on the wrong cell etc.) Is there any way to do that. I am fairly comfortable plunking around in code, but I would not represent myself as a "coder" exactly. I'm hoping for a Menu command or something similar.

Cell protection is activated when the sheet is Protected. Simplest non-code way is to Lock (Format, Protection, Locked, optionally Hidden if there are formulas you do not want to show) all cells -except- those you want editable, then Protect the Sheet with a password (and if you want a belt with your suspenders/braces protect the Workbook) (Sheet and Book Protection under Tools, Protection).
