    Well what template is your form based on? Word's default template, for example, is named 'Normal' and, if you're using that (not that I'd recommend it in this case), you'd add all the code to the 'Normal' template.

    It looks like I've gone wrong with this part, I'll try again with a new template.

    I think I've done it right but there is still a debug error. It's in the 'This Document module:

    Private Sub Document_New()
    If wdApp Is Nothing Then Set wdApp = ThisDocument.Application
    End Sub

    Private Sub Document_Open()
    If wdApp Is Nothing Then Set wdApp = ThisDocument.Application
    End Sub

    It's the "If wdApp Is Nothing Then" that is highlighted

    That suggests you still don't have:
    Public WithEvents wdApp As Word.Application
    in a Class module in your template.

    I've had a look, the "Public WithEvents wdApp As Word.Application" line of the code is there and as far as I can make out, it is in a Class module in the template I'm using. I really appreciate your assistance with this but I may just have to accept that this is all beyond my knowledge and capability. Thanks.

    Perhaps you could attach a copy of the template and a copy of the document itself to a post.

    When I go to the file upload manager and click on the + to add a file, nothing happens so I can't get any further than that. Is this the only way to attach a file to a post?

    If the file is open, you can't attach it - which might explain what you're seeing.

    The file is definitely not open. Firstly I can't see an option to attach a file from the "Quick Reply", I can only see icons to attach an image or video, right? So I click on the "Go Advanced" button and I can then see the option to attach a file. I click on the "Attach" icon and the "File Upload Manager" opens in a new window. In the top left corner there is a green circle "+Add Files" button. When I click the button, nothing else happens. I'm taking it that when I click on the "Add Files" button I should be able to browse and navigate to files on my own PC for uploading but there is nothing happening, no option to browse? I've tried this on two different PC's, just the same. Could there be something not working with the attachment facility on the web page? Do you by any chance have an example file that you could upload for me to see?

    You can attach a file by clicking on the 'Go Advanced' tab below the 'Quick Reply' window then clicking on the paperclip symbol there, followed by the browse button to select the file.

    Yes that is exactly what I did do, but when I click on the 'Go Advanced' tab, I can see the paper clip and when I click on it the paper clip a new window opens and I can see a green circle "+Add Files" button in the top left corner. When I click the button, nothing else happens. I cannot see a browse button?

    I have no idea what 'green circle "+Add Files" button in the top left corner' you're referring to. What I see is:
    Attachments.png
    the same screen appears if I scroll down and choose 'Manage Attachments' instead of the paperclip.

    What browser are you using?

    IE 11, I'll give it a try with Chrome and see if that works. Thanks.

    Capture.JPG

    It lets me upload an image, this is a snapshot of what I'm seeing. The green circle is towards the top left. This shot looks nothing like what you are seeing so perhaps it is a browser issue, should it work with IE 11?
