IIS 5 is supposed to be incredibly easy to set up and configure. I am not finding it so. After three days of frustration I am really wondering if it is worth the effort.
If I remove IIS from my Windows 2000 Professional machine and re-install, all is fine, for a while. Then suddenly the slightest change to permissions makes everything give a "page not found" or "page inaccessible" screen. I can't even access the HTML asp help anymore to troubleshoot the problem.
I believe I understand the intricate interaction of NTFS and IIS permissions and thought I had it all right but no. Moreover, use of the "permissions wizard" is the worst way to go in my experience.
Is there some simple, clear resource that can tell you how to get it all working?
