    disconnected automaticly

I use MSN as my internet server. When I first bought the computer, I could be on line for hours. Now, after about 15 minutes, I am disconnected. If I keep changing sites I am ok but if I want to be at the same site for a long period of time, I am disconnected. MSN support had me try all kinds of stuff but the problem is not fixed. I am really frustrated and would like any help anyone can offer.

    Re: disconnected automaticly

Do you use software that downloads entire sites in the background? This might explain why browsing a single site doesn't tickle the MSN connection after a few minutes.

You could try increasing the frequency that your mail software checks for new messages. That way, even if you take a break on the browser, your computer would still use the connection.

You also could try keeping open and minimized a page that refreshes itself regularly, or write some JavaScript to do it automatically. If you've ever been victimized by a site that keeps popping open advertising windows at random intervals, you know what I'm talking about. Except that you would direct the new pages to a minimized window so they don't interrupt what you're doing.

    And you could always try a new ISP. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>
