    Access to Outlook (2k)

    This is still in the contemplation stage. Is it possible for Access to trigger Outlook's calendar or task module? Rather than develop a tickler system as part of an Access system, can Access send date data to Outlook?

    Re: Access to Outlook (2k)

    It is possible to control Outlook from Access in VBA.

    Open any module.
    Select Tools/References...
    In the list, look for Microsoft Outlook xx Object Model.
    Check the check box and click OK.

    From now on, you can use Outlook VBA in this database.

    Here is an example of creating a task, getting values like the subject from text boxes on a form:

    Sub AddTask()
    Dim appOutLook As Outlook.Application
    Dim taskOutLook As Outlook.TaskItem
    Set appOutLook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
    Set taskOutLook = appOutLook.CreateItem(olTaskItem)
    With taskOutLook
    .Subject = Me.txtSubject
    .Body = Me.txtBody

    .ReminderSet = True

    'Set to reminder time.
    .ReminderTime = Me.txtReminder

    'Set the due date.
    .DueDate = Me.txtDueDate
    .ReminderPlaySound = True

    'Add the path to a .wav file on your computer.
    .ReminderSoundFile = "C:WindowsMediaDing.wav"
    End With
    Set taskOutLook = Nothing

    Set appOutLook = Nothing
    End Sub
