Crazy pricing on Visual Studio and .NET (MSDN Universal)

For some unknown reason, a year's subscription to MSDN Universal is going for about $1,200 at several online stores. If you order the DVD version, there is a $300 rebate, for a next outlay of about $900. This is not an upgrade; this is a new subscription. See PriceGrabber or your favorite shopping site (MS part number 534-02125).

Even though the subscription is only for a year, your license to use the Visual Studio 6.0, Visual Studio .Net, and Office XP Developer software are perpetual. You also get licenses to various operating systems, test versions of various server platforms, and piles of tech support and development resources - and all the good updates released during the next 12 months.

Does this seem like an insanely good deal or what? Mine's at UPS already. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    MSFT periodically offers such deals.

If one can wait/time their purchases appropriately, one can save a bundle.
