    Simultaneous editing in Word (2000)

I have been researching whether Word had any features that would allow editors to post a document on a network location (rather than route it as we do now) and still allow for simultaneous reviews of the document. Does anyone know if / how this can be done?
    Thank you!

Re: Simultaneous editing in Word (2000)

I believe the answer is no - Word is a single user application, and actually locks a document when it opens so that others cannot edit it. In that situation, others who try to open the doucment will get a message that PersonX has the doucment open, and ask if you would like to open a Read/Only copy of it. That's why the review features focus on a "round robin" approach. Access is the only one of the Office applications that is really designed for multi-user operation.
