    Personal Template Tabs (Word 2000)

One of our users on our network created a Personal Folder for Templates so that, when she clicks on File, New, she would see a tab for her personal templates. The tab does not appear. I can make this work on everyone else's computers in the office. We have SP3 installed but it didn't work with SP2 either. Any ideas as to why this is not working properly? <img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15>

Re: Personal Template Tabs (Word 2000)

Have you followed the instructions from Microsoft on how to do this.
HOW TO: Add a New Tab for Custom Templates in Microsoft Word 2000

You will need to read this very closely as there are some glorious misleading quotes there but this is one of the best
"IMPORTANT: Do not place your custom templates in this folder because Word does not recognize them there. Word recognizes only the templates that it installed in this folder."

Those instructions will tell you how (approximately) to set up the templates for one user. To modify the instructions for a Workgroup substitute the Workgroup templates location for the User Templates location.

When you have finished that task, have a look at the following link on the kb for a real laugh. It describes how to stop an meaningless secondary problem in the office shortcut toolbar by killing something else which is very useful.
WD2000: Cannot Delete Workgroup Templates Path from Office Shortcut Bar which describes how to stop a useless secondary problem by killing the useful primary setting.
