    paste value parsing (Excel 2000)

I have to unzip a file into NOtepad each day. From there I copy/paste into excel. The values are ; separated. Recently, instead of running a text to columns process from the column A file, Excel has nicely parsed the data into columns for me. Suddenly today,it is making a hash of it by parsing not on any identifiable character, and not the ; character. Can this behavior be explained? How can I get Excel back to the alert way it was automatically parsing just recently? Thanks.

The text file probably has something diferent in the first or second row and this can throw Excel. A workaround is to open the text file with excel rather than pasting it. This wil open the parser and you can set the separators, header rows and so on.
