Access conversion

Does anyone know if there is a way to convert an Access database (complete with forms etc.) to a VB project that can be compiled to an .exe file?

    Re: Access conversion

Greenwich Financial Modelling has a product called Access2VB that tries to do this with fair success if your Access mdb is simple enough. However, I don't recommend it unless you're good enough at VB to fix the things that the program can't convert properly, and the price is over $400 for a single license.

Access forms are very different from MS Forms, and you have to use a bunch of ActiveX controls in VB to even begin to create similar functionality to an Access subform. You don't have form headers and footers on MS forms, so they don't translate from Access. Access reports are far more complex and feature-rich than anything you can create in VB, so again, they don't translate well. Most of the code will convert readily, but you'll wind up having to fix things like comboboxes and listboxes because you don't populate them the same way in VB.
