    Write Conflict (Access XP)

I have used an Access front end on a SQL database. There is one main page with lots of tabbed pages which are visible depending on certain criteria. One of these pages refers to a subform and when that form becomes active there is a write conflict error message, however the database is still in development and I am the only person with access to it so no one else is using the database and I'm fairly sure there is no other forms updating this window.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can sort it out.

    Many thanks.

    Re: Write Conflict (Access XP)

Without knowing how you constructed your main form and subform I can only guess.

This problem might occur if there is overlap between the record source of the main form and of the subform, i.e. if they contain fields from the same table(s). When the focus shifts from the main form to the subform, Access attempts to save the record in the main form; the overlap could cause the write conflict.

If this is the case, try to change the record sources so that they don't contain tables in common. Otherwise, post back with more details.
