    Protecting a Word document

I am trying to set up a template where I can send a document via email yet have a similiar result to faxing - the document can't be edited and logos reused (like a PDF file). I have protected for forms (with no form fields) but the document can be saved as RTF and the protection is lost. I tried a macro to hide the Save menu & toolbar options but the user can choose (and probably should) disable macros when they open the document.

Can it be done (apart from converting it to PDF)?

It can't be done very well. However, if the document isn't too long you can Select individual pages and paste them into a new document using Paste Special... and pasting them as pictures. You will lose headers/footers this way but it might suffice for what you want to do. (You also get much bigger documents!)
