Word tables filled with spaces (pasted from XL) (WordXP)

I am pasteing some Excel spreadsheets into Word as a table. Usually this works okay. Occasionally, the cells are padded with spaces. I then have to find and replace to get rid of all the spaces. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Nobody has reacted up to now. Could you post an example of an Excel spreadsheet that displays this behavior? (Remove or alter sensitive information before doing so)

I haven't seen his for a while but I think it is caused by right aligned text in the cells you copy and might also have to do with using formats such as ($_0,000) to format numbers in Excel.

To avoid it try changing the alignment/formats in Excel before doing the copy or once in Word try right aligning and then left aligning the text - this can remove all leading spaces from a paragraph automatically.
