    Email assign (2002)

    Not sure if this is possible within Outlook:
    Multiple users share the same inbox, and each time a new email arrives the first user to open the item automatically gets "assigned" to that item. When I say assigned I just mean their name is put beside it or anything that would let the other users know that the email item is being handled.

    Is this call center style sort of thing possible to setup without any 3rd party software? Any input would be great,

    It may depend on how the users are accessing the mailbox; if from separate machines, you might be able to create categories for each user and then autoassign the username as a category when the mail is read, either by Rules (though I don't see a Rule template for assigning categories based on User) or VBA.
