    Minport mess

What is a miniport? I tried to uninstall McAfee completely in accordance with their own instructions, REGEDIT and all, but in Device Manager I am left with three items which are clearly marked McAfee: Intel Pro/100 VE Network Connection - McAfee Firewall Network Filter Miniport, and (same description) Miniport for Intel Pro/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter, and WAN Miniport (IP).

I may be mistaken, but this appears to be preventing me from getting online via my LAN. (I have a different firewall and anti-virus set that I want to replace it with, and the router has its own hardware firewall, and Windows XP Pro has its firewall.) I have asked McAfee, but haven't had a reply as yet, and it occurred to me that I might get an unbiased explanation here.
