Printing on different size papers (2003)

I am having a baby shower for my daughter-in-law. I bought some imprintable invitation cards that are 5.5 x 7.75 and would like to print my invitations on them. Every time I try to print on different size papers, I spend hours figuring out how to get it just right. Is there any place that has a good explanation about how to figure out how to print on odd size paper? I have managed to get it just about right but it's not perfect. I set the paper size to 5.5 width and 8 length. The margins are .5 left and 2.5 right. I centered the type on the page but when it prints, it prints a tad too much to the right. I can't make the left margin any smaller or it cuts off my type at the left margin even though there is about an inch and a half of space available to the left of the margin on the paper. I just don't get it. Can you help? I'm going to just go ahead and print these because they're ok (but not perfect) but I sure would like to understand how to figure these odd sized papers out. Thank you very much. <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>

Your print is off-center because the margins are different. But you knew that. If you can't print closer to the left margin than 0.5", it probably is a physical limitation of your printer. You might be able to tackle this, depending on your top and bottom margins, by pasting your text into a table with just one cell, rotating the text in that cell 90 degrees, and inserting your paper into the printer sideways.
