Recordset Clone (Win XP Access 2003)

Could someone explain some concepts to me, please. I am working through some Access Visual Basic code examples, and have a question.

The example opens a RecordsetClone from a form, uses the FindFirst method to lookup a record, then uses the Bookmark method to move to the record for the underlying form.

What is the purpose of the Clone? Could you not do this with the table directly?

The recordsetClone is another way of looking at the recordset behind a form. This may have been a table, or a query that joined two or more tables. The code you were looking at was designed to find a specific record in the form's recordset and make it the current record on the form.
