    Image Backup

    I am trying to make a full image my C drive using Acronis True Image and I am hoping somebody may be able to solve a problem I have run into.

    I'm running Win98SE and have one C drive and another recently installed drive partitioned into D and E. At present D and E are both empty.

    I've installed a demo version of Acronis True Image version 8.
    I have tried to create a image of C onto either D or E. In all attempts the backup fails and I get error messages in the logs. One such log is shown below and I hope somebody can suggest a fix.

    <event code="2" id="1" message="Creating the image has started" module="100" time="1123739698" type="2" />
    <event code="503" id="2" message="Analyzing partition 0-0..." module="1" time="1123739698" type="2" />
    <event code="503" id="3" message="Analyzing partition C:..." module="1" time="1123739698" type="2" />
    <event code="503" id="4" message="Analyzing partition 0-0..." module="1" time="1123739701" type="2" />
    <event code="503" id="5" message="Analyzing partition D:..." module="1" time="1123739702" type="2" />
    <event code="503" id="6" message="Analyzing partition E:..." module="1" time="1123739703" type="2" />
    <event code="1004" id="7" message="Can not find partition with path localhd_sign(1021F4CF)." module="1" time="1123739704" type="4" />
    <event code="100" id="8" message="Failed to process pair script:C:WINDOWSApplication DataAcronisTrueImageScriptsC4A29F81-0A7E-11DA-BC84-0000E253F871.tmp.tib.tis" module="1" time="1123739704" type="3" />
    <event code="5" id="9" message="Image creation has failed." module="100" time="1123739704" type="4" />

    Thanks in advance for any help,

    Re: Image Backup

    Aren't cryptic error message logs a pain? I've not had any problems like this with TI so I'm not familiar with the error stream. Have you contacted Acronis or looked in the doc to see if you can find anything? However, a question based on the second drive sounding like a new installation. Are both D and E formatted and have you tried to copy a file (or a few files) to a sample directory on those partitions to make sure all is well with the installation? It sounds like a problem with the "destination" but have you run a scandisk (or chkdsk) on any or all partitions to make sure Windows sees them as " A O K " ?
