    Bitdefender AV 9std

    Can someone help, I useBitdefender 9 standard on xp home 2.8 pentium 120 gig hd and 512 memory, I use IE6 and outlook . However, the youth of today want to use MSN Messanger 7.5 which is not opening due to the following virus detection File Crogram filesmsn messengerriched20.dll and the statement detected with Which presents another problem where did this program come from and how do I get rid of it. A search of the system reveals no Adware program and no Mywebsearch has been found also occassionally in IE6 when doing a search with google the address bar users a reference to acconna, any help would be appreciated.

    I'm not familiar with BitDefender specifically.

    In the past, there have been viral or trojanized or simply vulnerable versions of riched20.dll, so you might consider deleting (or renaming with a non-executable extension like .OLD) the one in that folder and replacing it with one from a more trusted location on your computer. There is one in c:windowssystem32 that you could try.

    As for MyWebSearch, try using another adware/spyware scanner to see if this is already present anywhere on your computer. If not, something in your Messenger settings might be either trying to access it or download it. I don't use MS Messenger, so I don't know whether it has a control panel that you could use to inspect its settings without actually starting the program. (For example, the way IE's options dialog is available among the Control Panels as Internet Settings.)
