The only program I know of with which I'm having problems with inheritable permissions is MS Access (2K SR-1). When I do a compact and repair of an Access .mdb file it creates a new file, transfers the data from the old file into the new one, gets rid of the old file and renames the new one to the old name. This needs to be done on a frequent basis, but whenever I do it the new file has "Allow inheritable permissions ..." turned off. Then if the "Allow inheritable permissions" is not turned on users on my network cannot open the file. When I save new files from other programs (including other Office programs) into the same folder as my Access files this security option is on by default. I checked local security policy, etc. and have come up with zilch. Any ideas will be appreciated.
