hi experts...

i get data from an external source like that:

a1: 4711-16
a2: 4711+37
a3: 4711/71
a4: 4711*11

now, how can i solve this without having to split those cells, please?!

4711-16 = subtract 16 from 4711 and so on...

multiply - add - divide - times...

Select cell B1.
Select Insert | Name | Define...
Enter the name Result in the name box.
Enter the formula =EVALUATE(A1) in the Refers to box.
Click OK.
Enter the formula =Result in cell B1.
Fill down as far as needed.

Note: replace EVALUATE with the appropriate name in your language.

Just another idea and if you are doing this all the time, here is a little Sub you could use:

Sub SumIt()
Dim lstLen As Integer

lstLen = Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row

Range("A1").Select

For i = 1 To lstLen

ActiveCell = "=" & ActiveCell.Text
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select

Next i
End Sub
