Split a cell diagonally (Excel '03)

How do I split a cell diagonally, meaning, create a column for Verification of Date/Time and have the user of this inventory log (spreadsheet) be able to use ONE CELL to enter the date/time of their verifications?
I want to insert into a cell a diagonal line dividing cell into two equal parts. Thanks

Excel does not really provide for this.
Although you can create a diagonal border in a cell, this does not split a cell into two parts.
You could enter two values in a cell separated by a slash / but it would be very inconvenient if you want to use the individual values in a formula.
