# Thread: Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

1. ## Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

Hi

I am having a problem with conditiional formatting.

Many Thanks

2. ## Re: Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

"Halfway between List and MSRP" would be (List+MSRP)/2, for example in row 7: (M7+N7)/2
Does that help?

3. ## Re: Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

Hi Hans

Thanks for the prompt reply, but as usual I haven't expressed myself properly, what I should have stated is any figure halfway between MRSP and List. Need approval

Sorry for that.

4. ## Re: Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

What do you mean by "halfway"? Do you simply mean "any figure between MRSP and List"?

5. ## Re: Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

Hi Hans

Yes any figure any figure not greater than halfway between MRSP and List

Please see attached I give a better explaination.

Thanks

6. ## Re: Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

Your explanation is still very confusing. In your examples you seem to use "half of MSRP", but you keep on mentioning "halfway between List and MSRP".

For example, in row 7:
List = 20
MSRP = 52.97
The limit you mention is 26.48, this is half of MSRP.
but halfway between List and MSRP would be (20+52.97) / 2 = 36.48

And the 24.77 you mention at the end is completely incomprehensible.

Please explain in a plain and coherent manner what you want.

Hi Hans

I made a typo in the file attached last time.

Corrected workbook attached.

Thanks

8. ## Re: Conditional Format ? (Excel 2003)

Try this formula in O7:

=IF(ISBLANK(P7),"",IF(P7<N7,"No",IF(P7<(M7+N7)/2,"Needs Approval","OK")))

and fill down to O9.
