    Excel 2003 compatible with 2003? (Excel 2002)

Are spreadsheets created with Excel 2003 compatible with Excel 2002 and vice versa?

Re: Excel 2003 compatible with 2003? (Excel 2002)

    Excel 2003 is 100% compatible with Excel 2003! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

The file format used by Excel 2002 and 2003 is the same, so each version can open, edit and save workbooks created in the other version.

Excel 2003 has a few new features, for example the List. If you open a workbook with a List in Excel 2002, the data will still be there, but the List functionality will be lost.

If a workbook created in Excel 2003 contains VBA code with references to non-standard object libraries, these references may not be recognized in Excel 2002. If so, the code will not run, and the Tools | References dialog in the Visual Basic Editor will show MISSING for one or more references. These references will have to be replaced with the corresponding versions for 2002.
