1. ## Puppies

I have just seen this on one of those prolific and irritating quiz programmes that charge premium rates to viewers guessing an answer. This was not answered but I was interested to see what you people thought.

14 puppies play catch with 16 puppies, so many puppies.

How many puppies?

I can tell you they did not accept 2 or 16!!!!

2. ## Re: Puppies

2 possible answers, 3 or 4, (the word appears 3 times in the first sentence plus once in the question)

3. ## Re: Puppies

Okay, I'll fall for it.......It depends on whether the irritating quiz program was trying to be "tricky" with the answer they might want! For the simpleton type of question that only requires simple maths skills, the answer would be 30.

4. ## Re: Puppies

I agree with you that it is one of those "quiz" programmes that has a defined answer. I too went for 30 and then I went for 16 (of those 16 puppies 14 played with the 16 )

I am tending to agree with Tony about the fact there are 3 or 4 puppies (written on the page), there is no defined logic

5. ## Re: Puppies

Another possibility is 238 (=14*17); this assumes that there are 14 puppies, each of whom plays catch with a distinct group of 16 puppies.
