Replace a set of characters (Access 2003)

    Hello all,

I have a text string that includes dashes, numbers, alphas, and other special characters. What I want to do is strip out (or replace with "") any character that is not an alpha from the text string. I could write a function that loops through the text string and removes anything that does not have an ascii number from 65 to 90 or 97 to 122, but I'm not sure if this is the most efficient way. Does anyone know if a replace (or other built in function) will allow me to replace a group of characters at once?

Thanks in advance for the help,

I think you'll have to use a custom VBA function for this, as you describe. I don't know of a built-in method to "clean" a string.
